Second series 2017 2024 etc. Features: Aluminum alloy containing copper as the main alloying element. (Copper content between 3-5%) Manganese, magnesium, lead and bismuth are also added to improve machinability. For example: 2011 alloy, pay attention to safety protection during the melting process (hazardous gas will be produced). The 2014 alloy is used in the aviation industry and has high strength. The 2017 alloy is a bit weaker than the 2014 alloy, but is easier to machine. 2014 can be strengthened by heat treatment. Disadvantages: Intergranular corrosion tends to be serious. No heat treatment strengthening, good corrosion resistance, good welding performance, good plasticity (close to super aluminum alloy). Disadvantages: low strength, but can be strengthened by cold work hardening; easy to produce coarse grains during annealing. Application range: oil guide seamless pipe (alloy 3003) and cans (alloy 3004) used in aircraft.
Four series 4004 4032 4043 The 4××× series aluminum alloy is an aluminum alloy with silicon as the main alloying element (the silicon content is between 4.5-6). Most of these alloys belong to heat treatment non-strengthening aluminum alloys. Only alloys containing copper, magnesium and nickel, and some elements absorbed after welding heat treatment strengthening alloys can be strengthened by heat treatment. Due to the high silicon content, low melting point, good melt fluidity, easy feeding and no brittleness of the final product, this series of alloys is mainly used for the manufacture of additive materials for aluminum alloy welding, such as brazing plates, electrodes and Welding wire etc. In addition, due to the good wear resistance and high temperature performance of some alloys of this series, they are also used to make pistons and heat-resistant parts. An alloy containing about 5% silicon is black-gray after anodizing and coloring, so it is suitable for building materials and making decorative parts.
Five series 5052 5083 5754 Features: mainly magnesium (magnesium content between 3-5%). Low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, good welding performance, good fatigue strength, can not be strengthened by heat treatment, only cold working can improve the strength. Applications: lawn mower handles, aircraft fuel tank conduits, tank materials, body armor, etc. Generally, the middle-end and above shoe racks are basically 6 series or 7 series.
Six series 6061 6063 Features: Mainly magnesium and silicon. Mg2Si is the main strengthening phase and is currently the most widely used alloy. 6063 and 6061 are the most used, and the others are 6082, 6160, 6125, 6262, 6060, 6005, and 6463. The strength of 6063, 6060, and 6463 is relatively low in the 6 series. 6262, 6005, 6082, and 6061 have relatively high strength in the 6 series. The extrusion speed is slower than that of the 6-series alloy, and the welding performance is good. 7005 and 7075 are the highest grades in the 7 series, which can be strengthened by heat treatment. Applications: Aviation (force-bearing components of aircraft, landing gear), rockets, propellers, and aerospace vehicles.
