Why Not Just Use the Strongest One?

Strength is not free. 7075 is expensive, harder to weld and less corrosion-resistant than 5052. 1060 is cheap and highly formable but cannot carry structural load. The right alloy is the one that meets the job with the lowest cost per unit area.
