1060 contre 3003 Bobine d'aluminium: Which Grade Fits Your Project?

1060 contre 3003 Bobine d'aluminium: Which Grade Fits Your Project?

Choosing the right aluminum coil grade starts with matching the alloy to the job. Two of the most commonly requested coils are 1060 (pure aluminum, ≥ 99.6 % Al) et 3003 (Al-Mn anti-rust alloy). They share a silver finish but behave very differently in service.

1060 Bobine d'aluminium: Conductivity and Formability First

1060 is a pure aluminum with the highest electrical and thermal conductivity among common commercial grades. It is soft, easy to deep draw, and best used where strength is secondary. Typical uses include transformer winding strip, heat exchanger fins, capacitor foil, decorative trim and packaging. For a product overview see our 1060 aluminum coil et 1060 slit strip.

3003 Bobine d'aluminium: Anti-Rust and Moderate Strength

3003 adds about 1.0 – 1.5 % manganèse, which roughly doubles tensile strength versus 1060 and improves atmospheric corrosion resistance. It is the default alloy for roofing, gutter, tank skins, cookware and trailer panels. Its checkered version is a popular anti-slip floor — see our 3003 diamond tread plate.

Bottom Line

If you need conductivity or extreme formability, go 1060. If you need moderate strength and better corrosion resistance at a low premium, go 3003. Not sure? Send us your application and we will recommend the right H temper and gauge.
