A carbon steel angle bar is the simplest structural section to buy and the easiest to connect — which is why it appears in almost every steel project. What Is a Carbon Steel Angle Bar?
An angle bar is a hot-rolled L-shaped section with two perpendicular legs. When both legs are equal in length it is an equal angle; when the legs differ it is an unequal angle. Chinese production follows GB/T 706 for hot-rolled section steel, with the base grade Q235B to GB/T 700. Angles are light, easy to cut, drill and weld, and excellent at carrying tension, compression and shear in frames and trusses.

Angle bars are used for roof trusses, tower structures, transmission towers, quadros, colchetes, ladders, racks, fences, agricultural machinery and scaffolding. How to Specify Angle Steel
- State leg size × thickness × length, e.g. “50 × 50 × 5.0 mm × 6 m”.
- Specify equal or unequal angle — unequal is quoted as “long leg × short leg”.
- Confirm the standard (GB/T 706 or EN 10056 / ASTM A36 equivalents).
- Decide surface: black mill scale, painted, or galvanized.
- Request the mill certificate for traceability on certified projects.
