6061 Aluminum Properties and Introduction
6061 aluminum is a widely used wrought aluminum alloy, belonging to the 6xxx series (Al-Mg-Si alloys). Its yield strength ranges from 110-145 MPa, resistência à tração é 205-310 MPa, and material density is 2.70 g/cm³. O “6061” is the alloy designation, where the first digit “6” indicates it is part of the Al-Mg-Si alloy series, and the following digits represent specific alloying element proportions and processing characteristics. 6061 Material Features and Applications
6061 aluminum offers an excellent balance of strength, formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance. It can be heat-treated to enhance its mechanical properties, making it highly versatile in various industries. Common applications include aerospace components (such as aircraft parts and structural frames), automotive parts (like wheels and chassis components), marine equipment, structural supports, bicycle frames, electrical enclosures, and consumer goods such as laptop cases and sports equipment.
